Miss Ratidzai Hofisi

Chair Person

Miss Ratidzai Hofisi is the current Chairperson for Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe. She is a qualified Ultrasonographer with a Post graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound from the Harare Institute of Technology. She also possess a Masters in Strategic Management from Chinhoyi University of Technology and a Bsc Honors in Diagnostic Radiography from the University of Zimbabwe. Miss Hofisi is an innovative, hardworking and dedicated health professional with more than 10 years experience of quality and efficient health service delivery to the Zimbabwean public. She is also the Principal Radiographer      at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.

Proffesor Herbert Zirima

Vice Chairperson

Professor Herbert Zirima is  a renowned  Educational Psychologist who is the current vice Chairperson for AHPCZ.  Amongst many qualifications, Professor Zirima is a holder of Doctor of Philosophy (Psychology) from Great Zimbabwe University, Master of Science degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Zimbabwe and a Bachelor of Science Honors degree in Psychology from the University of Zimbabwe as well. He is currently the Chairperson of the Department of Psychology at Great Zimbabwe University, the Chairperson of SALT Africa Trust, Consulting Psychologist with Identity Consultancy  with Childline Zimbabwe.  Professor Zirima has vast experience ranging from the Ministry of Education, Universities and also takes lead in many publications and funded research.

Mr Louis Gremu

Mr Louis Gremu is the board representative for Hospital Food Service Supervisors. He holds a Diploma in Hospital Food Service Management with the Ministry of Health, a Bachelor of Environmental Science Honors with NUST, a Graduate Executive Diploma in General Management (ZIM), a diploma in Business Bookkeeping (CPM) and a Diploma in HIV and AIDS Care and Prevention (IICDT) amongst other qualifications. Mr Gremu also has ISO 22000 certification in Food Service Management System Development and Implementation and certifications in customer service, recruitment and selection and human resource planning. He has more than 6 years experience of working as a Hospital Food Service Supervisor with the National Social Security Authority and has been previously working in the same capacity with the Ministry of Health and Child Care.

 

Mr Dennis Mudede

Mr Dennis Mudede in the AHPCZ Council represents Clinical Social Workers and Counsellors. He holds a Diploma and a degree in Social Work from the University of Zimbabwe, a Master in  Practical Theology with a Specialisation in Pastoral Therapy from the University of South Africa, a Diploma in Systematic Therapy from CONNECT and Supervision Training Track also from CONNECT. Mr Dennis Mudede is currently the Director of CONNECT and has more than 30 years of experience as a Clinical Social Worker in both government and private institutions and has participated in countless workshops locally and internationally of social work.

 

Mr Craig Nyathi

Mr Craig Nyathi is part of the AHPCZ board representing Nutritionists and Dieticians. Mr Nyathi is a holder of Bsc Nutrition from the University of Zimbabwe and Msc Nutrition Management from Western Cape University. He has worked with the Ministry of Health and Child Care for more than 5years as a District Nutritionist where he championed improvement of treatment of malnourished children and improved quality of care by training health workers. He has expressed his knowledge and expertise at many Non Governmental Organizations including Action Contre la Faim , Save the Children International and at UNICEF where he consulted. He is a certified IPC Level 1 Analyst (Acute Food Insecurity and Malnutrition), Certified SMART Survey Manager and has more than 10years in managing and implementing nutrition programs throughout the project cycle

Dr James January

Dr James January sits on the AHPCZ board as a ministerial appointee as prescribed by the Health Professions Act. He will be representing the Health Promotions and Education Officers profession. Dr January holds a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Medicine (Psychiatry) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal ,Master of Science Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Zimbabwe and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) Degree in Psychology from the University of Zimbabwe as well. The extensive experience and responsibilities of Dr January include being currently the Head of Department for the  Department of Community Medicine  at the University of Zimbabwe College of Health Sciences, being an external examiner for Midlands State University and the University of Malawi and also being a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. He has also been involved as a research associate at different institutions and universities in North Carolina and Australia.

 

Mr Zivanani Magwenzi

Mr Zivanani Magwenzi

Mr Zivanani Magwenzi is a member of the Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe representing the Electrocardiograph Technicians (ECG).  He holds a Diploma in Electrocardiography with the Ministry of Health and Child Care. Mr Magwenzi has more than 5 years of attending to and assisting in the diagnosis of cardiac patients at referral hospitals including Sally Mugabe Hospital.

Ms Deidre Muchirahondo

Ms Deidre Muchirahondo is an Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe Council member representing the Paramedics. She has Certificates of Ambulance Technician and Emergency  Medical Technician from MARS,  a Diploma in Secretarial from Speciss and a Certificate in Reception and Telesales also from Speciss College.  Aside from her many years of experience in Administration, Ms Muchirahondo also is experienced as a first aid coordinator and responding quickly to emergency situations regarding medical issues, traumatic injuries and accident scenes.

Dr Shepherd Shamu

Dr Shamu is currently a Senior Lecturer in Health Economics and Financing at the University of Zimbabwe, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Global, Public Health and Familiy Medicine. He is a coordinator of the Master of Public Health in Health Economics and Financing, Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology, and Healthcare Management. He is also a Senior Consultant in Health Financing and Costing – and has consulted for several local and international organisations.

Ms Rudo Magundani

Ms Rudo Magundani

Council Member

Ms. Rudo Magundani is a member of the AHPCZ Council as the legal representative, as prescribed by the Act. She holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Zimbabwe. She graduated from the University of Zimbabwe in 2010, receiving the University Book Prize and the Law Society of Zimbabwe Book Prize for her outstanding academic achievements. In 2014, she earned an LLM from the University of Cambridge. She is an exceptional lawyer with experience in commercial, labour, and human rights law. In March 2023, she was honored with the Outstanding Woman in Law Award (Gold Winner) by the Zimbabwe CEO’s Network.
